I need to get new reels for offshore fishing. I need to get 4 reels for the boat for 15kg class and 4 for 8 kg class. What should I be looking at?
The 15kg ones will be used mainly for couta/tuna/Dories up to sailfish if I am lucky. The 4 for 8kg will mainly be used for Natal snoek.
First thoughts where Shimano TLD 20 or 25's for the 15kg class and then Shimano Charter special 2000 for the 8kg class.
Problem is I then saw these Penn Fathoms-Dura drag, SS main and pinion gear, double anti reverse pawls and so it goes on, they seem to have everything you need in a reel.
So what now? Do I look at the old tried and tested or do I venture to the new?
I don't want to start a Penn Shimano situation but would appreciate some advice as these 8 reels will be a sizable amount of Tom I need to lay out and I would prefer to make the right decision first time around.
