Langebaan Slipway

Hi Guy's,

I am going up to langebaan in a few weeks for a week. I'm taking my small duck and am needing info on the easiest and most practical spot to launch my duck.

I am new to Langebaan only having passed thru a few times and I fished from the side there once about 30 years ago.

I was told to launch next to a restaurant which is on the beach.

I am told that my 3,5 m duck will have to have been surveyed and must have it's number displayed for nature conservation requirements.

Any tip's and assistance will be welcome.

Many thank's

Rob

Correct there. Alabama road. You will see the palletjies on the beach marking the launch area.

If I was in your shoes I will get the duck surveyed for category E or R, even if it maybe has less than 15HP on the back. Rather play it safe and it won't cost an arm and leg.

Fantastic, many thanks. I have made a note of the Alabama road. I am also going to get the duck surveyed for cat E and play it safe. Cheers

Hi Guys,
I am going to spend a couple of days at langebaan. Would like to which spots to fish. Where can I target stump nose and cob if any are coming out. Thanks

Hi Conishiwa

Some nice cob and Elfbeen coming out on the Line at night time, stumps have been coming out during the day, but the bigger ones at night.

Palletjies will be your best bet, as you can launch there for free no hassle (refer to Flamingo 1's picture). Make sure you get your boat surveyed atleast cat R but cat E is much better. Also you need to have your Skippers license, fishing license and an additional fishing license for the for any member on the boat to fish from the boat, and last, but not least, you need to get the parks board permit to fish the lagoon.

Parks board in Langebaan are quite active and all these could make sure that you have a hassle free fishing experience.

Many thanks Necrovis.
I don't want to run foul of the parks board and mess up my week. I'll definitely have my duck surveyed and get the necessary p b permit.

Hi guys

Was hoping to revive this topic with a quick question. I'm planning on visiting Langebaan in two weeks for a few days and will be bringing a 5.2m rubberduck. I'm clear on the requirements to register the boat with SANPARKS and that I need a skippers ticket.

As I'll be there with wife and a small child, I'll be launching and recovering the duck by myself. Is there anywhere other than Mykonos where you can launch and leave the boat in the water overnight? Last time I saw a number of mooring buoys in the Sandbaai area, but it was not clear to me who owned these and if these are regulated in any way? Research suggests that even if I sign up as a member of the Langebaan Yacht Club, which would make sense for future trips, you still need to pull the boat out each time?

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

You will have to take it out. No permanent moorings thatI know of. I have managed this by myself often. It's mostly about getting the tides right. What works for me is to lauch a low tide by pushing the trailer into the water by hand, offloading the boat and then pulling the traier out with a 30m rope while the boat lies at anchor in the shallows. I come in at high tide when it is eay to just reverse down the slipway as the water is right up to it then and retrieve your boat which you have anchored again in the shallows. It is obviously very much easier if there are two of you.
