I'm going to Thailand in May 2018 and am also interested in fishing whilst the woman do their massage thing.

What ive picked up from the internet is that saltwater fishing is bismal, apparently is heavily over fished and hiring a charter is basically a waste of money.

However they do have quite a few lakes stocked with huge fresh water fish like the huge Aripama (Not sure of the spelling) and other trophy fresh water fish. So maybe look into something like that.

Fishing in the salt there is terrible/ waste of time. The freshwater venues are far better, there are several but this is the best one

gillnetting and dynamite has destroyed the inshore fishing . Target the exotic ponds for grouper. GT all the amazon species and esp snakeheads on topwaters .

The inland fresh water lure fishing looks worthwhile; these guys have some great articles.
