I've eaten barbel, made into nuggets, battered and deep fried..You'd swear it was chicken with a little fish after taste. Kind of what snake tastes like, a large puff adder that I ate tasted pretty close. Not that I normally eat those but that one lunged for a mate and got the chop and became dinner and a belt. It was damn good eating, just like I remember deep fried baber! Just thinking also, those "sea run" sharptooth catfish should be better chow than their muddy brothers, I wonder what their main diet is in the estuary?
What a lag, check for the red eye sales going up inland...
I've caught baber spinning for bass, bass spinning for leeries..Caught kurper and carp while waiting for a live bait to get taken by leeries, and had double up with an angry leervis and a rather large carp in a Cape Town lagoon, at the same time which was pretty interesting as they were in different canals and I was standing on the thin piece of land between them. The carp was the one that knitted me all up in the structure but I got both out. For a kid that grew up in jo'ies I thought I had landed in fishing nirvana, little did I know! Ja the upper reaches of estauries can be interesting, you never know what you are going to catch..
Both you guys are full up on mana but you deserve some more..great stuff
