torium and trinnie A reels

Good morning All.

A very happy birthday to Jason Marks today.

I did these 3 reels for him. Two old torium 30 models and a trinnie 30 A.
The one torium he bought second hand, fortunately had carbontex drag washers in already, fitted dry, see the glaze on the washers as result.
The one way anti reverse roller bearing was rusted so that i replaced as well. The driveshaft where the bush runs had serious wear (see pic) so this i replaced with another driveshaft and fitted a bearing inplace of the standard bush. This is why it is essential to do the bush to bearing conversion on ALL these torium models.

The other torium needed a good service and spool bearings, while the trinnie A got its first service. Spool bearings were replaced here, the right side pinion bearing started rusting and was seized, this was replaced also(see pic).

The shimano grease had started caking(hardening) not good as this permits corrosion to occur(see pics) salt crystals had stared forming everywhere.

On the one torium you will see a knob fitted this is my JMAG adjustable casting control system, this prevents overruns and helps to cast easier and further also. This is the only and correct way to mag any reel. All correctly designed and made casting systems HAVE to be adjustable by turning the dial to adapt to varying wind, line class, sinker weights, rods and varying casting conditions and terrain.

Now look at the assembly pictures to see my work quality to see what my work is about. There are lots of pics on my facebook page jonathans reel repairs and upgrades.

Enjoy the post.

good afternoon..very clean work as usual.. that glaze / flat spot is interesting to see.. wonder what the company will say about that as its touted as usable dry or greased.. can that maybe happen if installed upside down?

have a wonderful new year ::tight:((goodp_

Carbon drag washers can be fitted dry. It is abnormal. If you look at the flat spots they seem circular spots. Hmmmmm....
