wet plug and slight missfire at 3/4 throttle

Hi, the impact on the skeg was so slight I reversed onto a rock didnt even scratch the prop just bent the bottom of the skeg and when I bent it back the aluminum tore so it had to be welded.

As for the Carbs running dry I always run them dry, however the idea about trailering the boat with full carbs is probably a good idea, will try that in future as the motor jumps around quite a bit on the trailer.

Thanks guys have a great weekend

Howzit, I have seperate coils one per cylinder, I have swopped them over and the problem didn't move to the top cylinder.

However I have recently sold the boat and when I took off the motor and fuel lines I see there was a crack in my Primerbulb, so maybe this is related to the issues after running a little while.

I am in the process of buying another boat a 5.5m Duck and I have managed to source 2 of the same motors as the one I currently have so I will always have a complete spare motor controls etc _seal1_

Those motors that I'm getting will need a full makeover as they come from the coast and probably spent 10 years in the sun.

when I finally get everything together I will start a post about the restoration of the boat and motors, I'm looking to to the full Monty on them from Crank seals to painting.

I had the guys do a compression test on the motors and they are  both well within spec and I really want to get them up and running before December,

Basically I will do the following to these motors.

1. strip off powerheads.
2. Open up water jackets and clean them out (these come from Durban)
3. fit new thermostats, check popper valves etc
4. new impellers
5 make up completely new wiring harness's the wires on these have crumbled to bits.
6. Clean Carb's
7 remove Flywheel and replace crank seals top and bottom.
8. replace oil and seals on gearbox's
9. repaint them from top to bottom including powerheads
10. service the controls and cables
11. service Starter motors with new Bushes etc
12. fit new battery cables
13. new fuel lines
14. new coils plugs and leads.

then fit them to the Duck.

The boat doesn't need much work only a new seat cover and a lot of spit and polish.

I will do all the work myself to keep costs down.

The only thing I would have like was to have trim and tilt motors but Kids are expensive so I have to make do with what I can get;)

And after all this I will have 3 complete hopefully running motors all exactly the same year models with the same paint decals wiring harness etc.

I really like the look of the old Johnsons

I know thats not Yamaha, but the seloc manual say that a fouling plug is an indication of weak spark, especially on single pack coil supplying spark to two plugs, my mates 25 yammy actually has that problem....but you don't have single coil, whoever, I would check the pulsar coil outputs and check EVERY single earth strap and it's condition.....another thing the manual mentions is that most electrical problems can be traced back to faulty earth....I feel the fouling is due to unburnt /oil

replace your fuelpump or fit a new diaphragm.it is perished and lets fuel through on that cylinder because it works on vacuum principle.once you stripped the fuelpump you will know why

Howzit, turned out to be the bottom coil and fuel pump.

I had a fuel delivery problem torn diaphram and ended up blanking off the hole in the block and fitting an old electric fuel pump that I had lying around.

and after changing out the coil the problem has gone away.

I need to order a new fuel pump kit, just waiting on prices.
