Nitecore HC 30

Def-e-nition

It's been a long time since I've contributed , Hope everyone is well n dandy .

Certain life changes have forced me to divorce myself somewhat , from the Water.
in any event ,

I spoilt Myself last week , and Decided to take the plunge and ordered the Hc30 , From Nitecore .

I Raved About the H14 R , the 14.2 R was also pretty good - until I saw Alton off the point at Mazeppa , shining his Hc 90 straight down towards us , near Cable rock.

That was Enough to convince me to Look into the product. Nearly 2 years later - I discover the Hc 30 , and upon doing someresearch about the light , decided it was time .

The light is pretty well built , and aside from Not being bale to get it to go on from the word go , It Really is a hassle Free light to use.

the light takes one battery , and is sold with a a usb capable charger, called the f1 . Frankly I would've liked to be able to charge two batteries simultaneously , but for now , 1 is sufficient .

Is has 5 Modes : ultra low which is only meant for Reading , Low , Medium , high and turbo mode .
Hours for Each Setting , are: 330 H , 15 Hours, 7 , 3.5 hours, and on turbo Mode - 1 hour .

for General use, I am running it on the low seeting , as the medium setting is already bright enough to satisfy My requirements .

One big feature I enjoy over my H14 , is that it Weighs next to nothing, while also being simple To use, and as an added bonus- Waterproof as well .

When compared to anything smaller than an H14 , it is only the fact that The other beam is perhaps a narrowangle , where you might find something To compare .

It certainly isn't cheap by any measure- but all I can say is that when you spend that sort of cash on something , and have use for it - it Is , money well spent . This light is no Exception .
1000 Lumens is enough to literally Fill A Room , with light .

The Light cycles through it's Settings with the push of a button . to use the setting previously set ( medium , or Low light ) simply hold the buttn in while turning it Off. To go back to the memorized light setting, turn the light on by pushing the button down for 1 second . voila. Turbo Mode From wherever you currently have it in memory , is a simple Click away .

If you're Greedy, and Run it continuously on 1000 lumens , the light will only last for an hour - just What exactly you'd need to see on that brightness , for over an hour , is beyond me .

the light is comfortable on the head , due to it's light weight .
The headband , though a little large , is simple to adjust .

I also ordered a spare battery , to be charged Whiule The light is in use . This one is 3400 MaH , and will provide a few extra Minutes Worth of light , over the stock 3200Mah .

Trully and impressive, simple , expensive , but excellent headlamp . The light comes with a belt clip , to be used as a belt worn device, as the headband allows for the Light to Be slipped out of the strap , and used as a hand held Device .

Awesome Light . Highly impressive performance .

Psy it r eighteen hundred and Ninetyfive Gront , And I tested it dead of night last night , against the H14. I Must say though- Those Germans , do Know how to build up a good headlamp and lens.
The circular spot sent out by the H14, Trully is pretty good.

Having said that- I was able to use the light extensively while on the ultra Low Setting of 1Lumen ,and even on that setting , it really is Pretty Good . The Low Setting of 75 lumens , is already good .

On 1000 Lumens You're Looking at semi-broad Daylihgt ,and admittedly it would be Nice to be Able to always use it on turbo ,but So far - So Good .

Nice report as usual Stuart! R895,00 does not sound a lot for the quality you are getting here. I would rather pay that amount for a piece of equipment that lasts 10 years or more than and H7 or similar that generally breaks after a period of 2 -3 years depending on use.

Seems like a nice toy. I am seriously considering this as my H7 has got a broken battery cover. The little beepity boppity boo thingy that holds the casing down broke and it keeps slipping off when you least expect it. Needless to say I now have corroded terminals because of exposure to sea air!

thanks for the info!::slr::

PS. "If you're Greedy, and Run it continuously on 1000 lumens , the light will only last for an hour - just What exactly you'd need to see on that brightness , for over an hour , is beyond me"

You have been to Lennies so a fight with a submarine could take much more than that! ;)

Mike it's a Litttttttle more than that- Might I suggest then , heading back to Led Lenser .

It's R1895 . which is why I Waited 2 years ..............!

however - far from being a toy -this thing seriously has the ability to punish the Eyeballs of anyone you shine this onto , in self defence Mode , While also offering you The Option to go slow , and run it on 75 lumens for Maximum Light Effectivity . The uSb driven charger means you can chrge the Battery effortlessly with your phone charger while Camping , even at a spot that has no 220v source , which I kind of like .

The Strobe mode for self Defence works like a Bomb , and Hammers your Would be assailant with roughly 400 lumens every 1/50th of a Second , completely blinding your Attacker.

I hear you on the hour long thing , yes Lennies holds a special place for me , as being one of the spots I've fished that gave Me The most carrots in my aural cavity , in a single Day.
horrendous !lolol! Night Fishing with one of these There Though , would be a dream .

I Must say that I do enjoy the Centered lighting of the H 14 R as well , it just Gets bulky , and , True to form , the straps tend to become perished , and lose their elasticity . the battery Pack is heavy on it , and rightfully so , as a shorter run time on something as powerful as H14 , would be pointless .

the Hc 30 sets the bar for Phenominal cosmic power - Teeeeny Weeny living space , and gets my vote as being The sort of Thing that, provided you Look after it , WIll provide you with Years of Enjoyment .
