Bloemhofdam angling options

Hi there,

We are planning a trip to Bloemhof for the long weekend. I have heard that Sandveld are full of plants and not ideal for fishing currently. Can anyone confirm this? I know the SA's are there currently - any feedback form them maybe?

What alternatives do one have? Noord-Wes and Verlantenskraal? How is the fishing there and is it save to camp there?

Hi. We did plan for Sandveld but upon arriving there we found out there was a competition and they reserved the the spots from the bridge inwards - basically all the best spots. You had to enter the competition to camp there. We went on to Noordwes and had a blast! The wind was in blowing from Noordwes to Sandveld meaning that people there could hardly fish for the entire weekend. We had NO plants and caught well over 100 carps and about 30 barbel! Will definitely in future camp at Noordwes again. Ablution not the best but if your camp setup is able to run with Solar/gas and some water cans you are in for a blast!
