Purglas 350/2

350/2 broke while casting a 4 oz with SL30- right where the insert for the trigger meets the blank.

Bought this rod at Anglers Den

So is it a poor blank or bad workmanship?

Difficult to say. Take it back and get them to sort it out. Ive had purglass rods for many years and never had a problem with any of them.

Thanks dude. Took it back this morning. Brand new it was. It's first outing, just casting...

Sounds like somebody made a mistake somewhere. I regularly push my 350 beyond its parameters and have had no problems at all.

Yup, they normally handle pretty well. Tested the 350/4 with 7oz and 400/3 with 7oz also. No probs with them. Probably was messed up when they pushed the insert in.

I dont know if this is too relevant.... i Have had 4 Purglas 400/2, I broke the first 3 of them and every time they were replaced by Purglas free of charge, it was in the first year though.
The first one came off my roof going down hospital bend and a truck rode over it, i had not even used the rod, the second one was broken when my step dad rode into a awning with the rod sticking out, Purglas replaced that one too, then the 3rd one broke while i was fighting a Kob, i must have bumped the rod on a rock or something beforehand, they replaced that one too...... so i am on No.4 now and have been using it for about 5 years now without a glitch (touch wood)
I managed to find a 400/2 3 piece yesterday that i bought, looking forward to trying that out.

I am a big fan of Purglas!! I have had a Purglas Tiger special boat rod that i have been using for more than 10 years now and i have landed hundreds of fish with it, from Yellowfin Tuna to Kob, i also used it for a few years spinning for snoek commercially! A few years back i was involved in a serious car accident where we rolled a bakkie on the way to going fishing, the rod was sticking out the window and it even survived that!!!!

Reminds me, I have a Purglas Lunker Buster bass rod that I bought in 1994, still have it and it is one of my favourite rods of all time.

I guess this would count as an appeal for Purglas to widen their range again...

P.S Deon Brits, waar is jy? Praat bietjie met die manne van Purglas..
