Hello everyone,

I have been bass fishing for roughly 3 years now, mainly spending my Sundays driving to Mofam and longer drives to the olifants river system/Clanwilliam/Bulshoek dam. I have always wanted to try the Doring river after reading a report back on Sealine a few years ago and recently an opportunity has come up to visit.

We will be travelling to where the Doring and Biedou rivers converge, there is little to no information online about this river which is exciting but daunting at the same time.
It seems very shallow and with the inconsistent rains we are not sure if this area of the river will be make for good kick boating.

Any advice on lure type, colour and general information to help make the drive from Cape town worth it will be very much appreciated.

Are you going through Biedou valley to get there or via De Mond ? the river is flowing plenty yellow fish and sawfin in the system rattle traps and small cranks work ,inline spinners as well some spotted ,small mouth and large mouth bass work cranks close to bank as the bank has a lot of under cutting in some places , early morning and late evening surface lures very good.

Hi TW,

At the moment we are looking to go through Biedou from Clanwilliam side.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there specific colours you use?
Personally white/silver or orange have always worked well at Bulshoek but not sure if the same here.

Will post some pics, hopefully of fish!
