Learnt our lesson with the Metaloid reel and other brand items....

Only announce once available in the warehouse..... Yes the 15'6" announcement is premature. It is only the final sample and the actual stock on the 15'6" Shipped from Taiwan on Friday so another 3 weeks

When we going casting?
That 12' you showed me -  can see a superb surf lure stick, damn it felt good.
13'... matched with a 5000 sized tourno multiplier and 100g lead, just for fun?

Hi Not in the retail market yet. I expect they will sell at the same price as the Grinder Versions

I had a chance to handle the new rods this week. We have identified a few changes to be made.

In short.

New 13' Grinder rod 4-6oz same layout and build design as the 14'6" and 15'

The 14'6" 6-8oz and 15' 7-9oz Casting rods are slim and mean rods

WINN Grips fitted factory standard
Fuji Trigger reel seat
Fuji K series Alconite Casting layout ending in #16 in both longer rods and #12 runners and tip on the 13'

Busy spooling up an Andros Leverdrag and Cedros star drag to get out and test cast the rods.... I know I'm going to love these rods, thin and light and plenty power.

Weighed the 15' 9oz casting. Total rod weight 815gr....

Does the rod have separate butt section inserted or is winch/butt built straight onto the blank?

Hi What size Grinder would you suggest for the 14'6"? I will be using it mainly for edibles.
Thanks jacques

When I get a chance to DISECT one I will see if they listened to the request that it be straigt onto the blank.

It does, from what one can see look to be onto the blank direct.

The spare spools for the Makaira's arrived yesterday.
20'000 and 30'0000 and each spool is sold with the full double drag system and a drag tension knob.

20k for R1100
30k for R1250

I used the Makaira 20k and Bullseye 120 (14'000 Shimano size)

Okuma 20'000 or 90
Shimano 14'0000-20'000
Daiwa 6500

Size reels to optimise casting ability are bigger to keep up with the velocity the sinkers are launched at

From the agents via your local Okuma dealer, they must just order for you

Hi Craig, sorry if this sounds silly but what will be the major differences from the first range of Makaira rods 14"6 to the new version ?
