Howzit Guys, The new Shimano Beastmaster 9000 electric reels are pretty cool... fishing in 650m deep water, the Chemare Rosso rods are made specifically for the reel and the rod holder system is brilliant. https://www.flickr.com/gp/151675609@N02/eQt263

Followed the link to flickr, clicked on a pic and a message came up saying "ADULT CONTENT" ![]() I guess the 9000 is no kids toy ![]() I'll have to register with Flickr. [sorted]... That's some serious bling... Great pics Mark! (as always) Last edited on Fri Oct 20th, 2017 09:11 pm by Limpopoking |

Haha Limpopo, I just fixed that; it was a setting on the upload...still trying to figure the Flikr thing out, although the BM 9000 could be considered adult content. you should be able to see the pics now.

How deep are you dropping for them? Do you fight them on manual or electric? Looks like you are having all the fun ![]() Awesome photos as usual, glad I can see them now without registering..missed the last few threads of yours..

Hey Dr Halibut, we fish 500m to 650m deep for the swords. It unreal what a pest the monster squid are, they attack your bait on the way down. When the swords bite they bring your line up and they swim to the surface so we use the electric function until they start fighting near the surface. On that last sword my battery died with 300m to go so I had to manual him for about 200m before I went back to the electric. It is really a cool system, however I think I will be in trouble on a really big sword as that last fish was incredibly strong and the rod is a bit pap to put real pressure on the fish. I take it they have a unique way of dealing with the oxygen in their blood expanding. Not sure if they even have a swim bladder but you'd still almost expect them to explode coming up from those depths... At 600m, water pressure is approx 61 bar ![]()
