What boat for the sea

Hi All

Need some advice. I always had a cabin boat fishing the tidal rivers in eastern cape. Now moved to Somerset west and decided to sell the cabin boat and get a nice centre console (about 15 to 16') so that I can go out at Gordons bay. Then I can also take it to the Breede river
Have been looking at some boats, but I do not really have knowledge regarding the different makes.

What do you recommend (do not want a ruberduck. I did look at a Ace Craft 15.6'.

The fusion boats are fast becoming legend for quality of finish as well as ride. They're pricey but apparently you really do get what you pay for with them. Speak to James.

You can contact BFC on this and other forums for more info on the Ace. He builds the 15'6

Thanks. Just looked at the fusion pictures. Looks like very nice boat. The 15 will work well for my purpose.

I see you have a bandit 380. I am very interested in the bandit 490 since I like the cathedral hull - very stable. What do you think about the cathedral hull for the use on the sea?

Are the bandit a strong boat?

I really love my little Bandit, it serves my purpose perfectly. I wouldn't suggest any form of flat cathedral for offshore though. D7 built a "cathedral" that's a good offshore hull but it resembles a deep V more than a cathedral.

Mark Jamieson who builds the Bandit is a really nice bloke and I collected my 380 when he was doing the development work on the 490. It looked like a great estuary boat, but definitely not something I'd take to sea.

My hull is certainly strong, but the hatch covers are a bit too light, so one has to be a bit careful of who stands on them. That being said, I specifically wanted a very light boat for my little DF20... And it is perfect.

Stay away from a cathedral hull for any offshore work.

Small V, I look at the Ski Vee 500 or the 15'6 Ace as mentioned, built by BFC.

As for a small Cat- nothing beats a Yeld 16'(FC or CC), they are like hens teeth secondhand new are pricey but you are getting the best.
