Hi guys. Leaving for Vidal 23rd of June. Any advice on which edibles I can target off the surf (shad excluded)? Would there be leeries and GT mid winter? Are there kobbies in Natal? I have never fished there, so I've got no idea what to expect. Thank you in advance.

still very early for Garrick, but front runners are always present.
we got a Garrick at Sodwana in june in 2016.
my biggest kingie in st lucia was in july, 9 2013

Garrick, kingies and salmon will be there.
hard work thou.

clean water......not easy going, so get your bait and use them. don't eat all your bait!! "shad"

Ok we went there for a week (2 weeks ago)

Shad were coming out but very few, me and my son caught about 8 shads only, they only bite at sunrise. Size were small.

I slided some shad and mackrell/chokka baits one day but no bites.

Other catches I heard of was some bigger sharks and flat fish a bit North of main beach during night times.

We still enjoyed it a lot with lots of wildlife and a Hyena walking 8m past our caravan one night.

Oi. Just to report, nothing came out. Vidal is a beautiful spot (although the facilities are a bit run down) and I will definitely go back, but unfortunately in the 7 days we were there (23rd to the 30th of June) I did not see a single person bring out anything of note on the sand. Fishing was generally better between the bricks, with some rock cod, stumpnose and other reef fish to keep you busy, but all in all a sad trip. The boats also came back mostly empty handed. The best catch I saw being two nice sized Cobia. I suppose the sardine run down south did not do us any favours. Anyway, thanks for all the advice.
