Hi Everyone

I could only find old outdated posts on this venue and i would like to see if anyone has recently gone there for fishing carp.

I know they now have a specimen spot called the Pond.

Has anyone tried either of the dams recently?

Thank you in advance.

Hey,

I like to fish there. Affordable venue, perfect for short sessions and safe enough to overnight alone.

They have the concrete dam at the top. Some right characters in that dam. Mirrors of all sorts and some dark commons. Can catch fish on a variety of tactics from breading to just regular speci tactics with boilies.

Pond is their old bass dam that they have recently converted to a speci dam. Its a nice intimate water which already holds some lovely fish. They've also added some new stock to it and its looking really promising for the future. You do however have to do a tackle inspection before you get to fish the Pond.

The "Fun Fishing" FB page is a good place to find out a bit more about the venue i.e. whats been getting caught and just for general info. You should check it out.

Live in the area, if you after big carp across the road is sharondale. Dangerous to fish as it's open next to the high way. If you hook one of the bigens beter hold on they will run you into the reeds.

Fun fishing is good for day trips with the fam, never fished the cement dam but saw some nice pictures from my mates with catches ranging in the 4-7kg range.

The pond if fished a few times. Bit small as you fish the margins and can walk your bait around and drop it in a spot of your choosing.

Anyways save fishing bud..

Sharon Dale big fish bud. You will see when you catch. Jacksons is a mess due to fishermen not using proper carp care and unhooking mats.If you land one you will see the condition of the fish.

Went there a few times this year and retrieve fly lines and mono. Probably half the dustbin full next to the water. Was lucky enough to get a hook out fit to catch a whale.

Nice to fish but always overcrowded and heavyely presured fish. Only reason I have moved on to other venues.

All in all if you get proper management on the lake it will be great to fish again.

Hope it helps bud.

Where do you park when fishing at Sharondale?

is there a way off the highway to the dam?
also are the like bushes to set up in so that you aren't clearly visible to possible criminals?

Just before Rietvlei turn in there is a small road to the dam. If I drive I park at the nursery and walk down with my friends. At least 10 of you will be good for security. Or just get someone to drop you guys off. I fish on the left hand side or just float in with my inflatable and rope myself to the reeds. So no one can come close, it's a fam not often fished so basic tacktics would be fine. A hair rig with a color will work just fine. Yellow or bright orange will do the trick.

Only fished there twice so far. Good luck bud hope you get a bigun ::tight:
