Quick question, when were Grinder guides/setups first available for large rods 12-15ft?

Fixed spool reels have been used on long surf rods for decades with what ever guides were available. South Africans just didn't take to their use until relatively recently.

Modern fixed spools are a far cry from what was available 40 years ago.

'Spose you could say the Fuji's HV guides were the 1st step at addressing dedicated guides for fixed spool reels, they date from 1982.

Quantum leap was, to my mind, LC's (Low Riders) in 2000.
