HI guys, new to the area. Any areas for fishing lures ( spoons, drop shot, plugs etc) at this time of year along the Gordon's bay/ Strand area? Or is spring/ summer a better season?

Hi rocknsurf

You can fish for gallie and kolholle at the Kogelbaai day camping camping site while waiting for leerie season to arrive. White mussel works well there, and the lighter your tackle the better. Have caught kolhol and gallies there on my grunter river grunter setup; biggest gallie was around 37cm. I also got a fat kolhol at the same spot of roughly 36cm. This was about 4 years ago though.

I managed to get a few small leeries and elf in strand. Small spoons and "tiny little" stickbaits seem to get their attention.

I recently started using CID stickbaits and they are a hit with the leeries.

Thanks Duckbill, appreciate the info. Will give Kogelbaai a try, will give me chance to dust of my 9 ft rock hopper

Will have to try keep myself sane until the warmer months bring elf and leeries back
