Hi gents, looking for some advice,here goes my question. I currently own a jurgens craft yeld cat 17 foot, with twin Hondas Bf60A motors, which props will be a good option for all round performance and fuel effiency? Thanks

Yep, never seen a Jurgans Yeld. Dude, refer to the the size props the motors come out with. That's the best start. Way too many factors like the type of fishing you do, surf launch running speeds etc. Fuel efficiancy should.be the last of.your problems, Honda is renound for being frugal. Nantes, hows the shark killing going? You caught them all yet?

Hi gents, Sorry for the late reply. The current props are 11 1/8 x 14 pitch. No surf launching, my only concern is that it takes 15 seconds to get to plane and top speed is 45 Kmh at 5300 Rpms.At 3000 rpms it seems to surge with a following sea,dont know if maybe it is the sea pushing exhaust gas back through the props ,maybe you have an idea of the cause.I normally trim the motors up to raise the bow to avoid broaching in a following sea and this seems to make the surge worse,almost like a missfire or fuel starvation surge. As for the maker of the boat , it was the Jurgens yeld cat built in the 80/90 s, built by jurgens, i think the hull is 1989. Not sure of the weight though. Your opinions are highly appreciated. cheers.

IN my opinion, the motors a bit underpowered for the weight (assumed to be very heavy)! They should probably run with twin 85HP Yammies, do a google search and come back to us. If your props cant get you on the plain, bigger will even be worst, smaller will cavitate even more! Again, just my opinion.

15s to get on the plane is a long, long time. Even though you're not surf launching, I'd say that it still doesn't give you enough time to get out of the way of a growler or rogue. For what it's worth... Yelds are designed and built by the Yelds. Jurgens had nothing to do with them as far as I know. Are you not maybe just referring to the Jurgens Fwd Console boats?

Yeld is built by the Yeld family. Now known as Yeld marine and previously as Monzi boats. Before building the boat we know as a Yeld, they built the Zulu cat. 60hp motors should push a 17' boat just fine. Do your motors have trim and tilt? Motors trimmed out too far will slow the boat coming onto the plane and cause cavitation.

Hi Bennie, Yes they have T&T. When i get the boat on plane the motors are fully down and then i adjust the trim to raise the bow slightly to improve ride, they not too high trimmed up. I currently have 14 inch pitch props. My concern is when in a following sea only , in a quarter head sea and quarter beam , no problem. Maybe the boat is too heavy for the 60s? Anyway, thanks for all you guys input,appreciate it. Thanks

You sure the boat isn't water logged? Take it to a weighbridge then remove the boat and reweigh the trailer so we can get a weight of the hull.

Hi guys, Took the boat on the trailer to weigh bridge, The trailer weighs +- 1650 Kg ,after i took the boat off it weighed 700 kg. So it seems the boat and motors weigh 950 Kg. Is this weight more or less correct for the boat? Thanks
