Thanks to Greg and Shag n Release Outrigger suppliers for the updates. So the first Marlin Cup Billfish comp kicked off today. 15 boats launching from Richard's Bay and Sodwana. Prize money over R200k. I think this comp has the potential to grow in time. ITS TIME!!! At 06h30 tomorrow morning the very first Marlin cup SA kicks off. Boats from Sodwana bay and Richard's bay will be battling it out for the R238 000.00 prize money!!! The boats have been Auctioned off and the Calcutta kitty is pretty sweet as well!!! Certainty got a fantastic fish today of 685lbs on a practice day, so it's all to play for!!! We will keep you all posted on the marlin cup page as it happens!!! Here's your champs so pick your winners!!! Good luck to you all and raise em up and be safe out there!! And its official, Team Velocity have released the first marlin of the tournament, out of Richard's bay!!! Congratulations to all..... Maybe the bite has switched on!!! Info supplied by Shag n Release, aka Greg Hogarth.

Day 1 saw 3 fish released, in some very sporty seas, sadly 2 fish had to be DQ'd in accordance to the rules. Day 2 is underway with 1 fish already released by 7 seas.

Congratulations to Team 7 seas for their win in the inaugural Marlin cup!!! Also to Reel Magic coming in 2nd and Rampage in 3rd. To all the participants we would like to thank you all , conditions were tough but everyone fished hard and great job to those who released fish. Looks like the North pipped the south this , I'm sure however there will be some score to settle next year. Thank you all for attending and making this happen and we hope with all the support we will see more boats in attendance next year and this tournament growing from strength to strength.
