I have 4 unused SAMSA approved life jacket. 2 are type 100N (day rating) has my boat name on that I'll have to cross out and 2 x type 150N (night rated). The night rated jackets are still in their original packaging.

R250 each for the 100Ns
R350 for the 150Ns

Collect in Queensburgh or courier R150.

Thanks. I'll look into it. You are correct that my club wont pass night rating unless we have the 150s. Ill get clarification from SAMSA.

Bennie, then i dont know how the safety officer did that.

Refer to page 32 of 130

At Durban ski boat club i had to upgrade my skippers ticket to a Cat B coastal ticket to get night rated and at Fynnlands the safety officers advocate the SAMSA notice attached, so i had to upgrade my vessel rating.

For interest sake Bennie, in the past the legislation allowed a Cat C Day rated vessel to launch during day time hours and return after sun down. If i remember correctly 2-3 hours after sun down. That clause was repealed and is not allowed anymore.

I will look for it, as i'm sure i had it somewhere on my computer.

Nantes, if reading the legislation provided is to much effort for you. Then contact SAMSA directly, your cocky immature comments are not appreciated.

OK, Did some research.

The confusion is not on the boat, its on skippers ticket.

Nantes, you have an old skippers with night rating so you lucky because now they will not issue a night rating to a skipper with a CAT C. They will only issue night rating with CAT B Coastal tickets. You one of the lucky ones.

You can night rate any Category boat even Category E. 100N Jackets are required for boats operating less than 15NM (CAT C) and 150N jackets for boats operating more than 15NM. It actually has nothing to do with night rating.

Our club, is wrong. I will communicate with Oom Ben and Peter Beckly.
