Rod and reel advice

Hi guys.

I'm in the need for a new combo now. 10ft. I currently have a 10ft Mitchell master caster with a penn warlord 5000. Super happy with the combo.

I'm thinking about getting the same combo for my second rod. However I have been looking at the docks trend. My issue is that I cannot find another rod on the market with the same size eyes as the master caster. I have yet to see the docks trend in person. Just interested because it has a 3.25 test curve. As for the reel I cant find another 5000 with a long distance casting spool as compact as the warlord. I really like the daiwas but the reel is rather large for a 10ft.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Have A look at the sensation tempo rods, they also have a parabolic action. But you are talking about long casting spools, if you want to cast A long way rather have a look at something like the shimano technium rods, they have two tips, one for long casting and one thats more forgiving. The sensation tournaments will also work. Depends on your budget really. Reels you say you dont want "big" reels, daiwa black widow and shimano DL. You get small big pit "long casting" reels but they are expensive.

Thanks for the reply Kosie.

Will have a look at those rods. I have been researching them online but will only be able to make a final decision when I get to see and feel the rods in person.

Would have liked the shimano tribal velocity but the price on a shimano is a bit heavy compared to everything else I'm looking at. I don't mind a rod with a higher test curve as well. I do not use the drag much and prefer fighting the fish using the anti reverse so switching out rod tips is not something I would want.

So I have played with the black widow reel and its not what I'm looking for. My Penn warlord is a a small big pit which is why I love it.

Could you perhaps let me know which other reels are small big pits because I can't seem to find one

I think what you are looking for is the shimano reels with X AERO spools, the X AERO FA is A Small baitrunner reel with A big spool, think Ganis had some. Then there is also the X AERO RA 6000 and of course the Shimano medium baitrunner LCXTB. But the size you want the FA will probably suit you best. Like I said its expensive but also tops in its class. Unfortunitely the market is rather limited for what you want.

Just had a look at that reel.

Looks good but like you say it is expensive. More than double what I payed for the Penn.

I'll continue to look around but I might just have to go with the same combo I'm currently using.

Thanks so much man
