Hi, can the shimano nasci 5000 be used for rock and surf fishing with 1-3oz sinkers and reeling the sinkers in using the reel only and not the lifting of the rod.

The Sedona is better, the Nasci is rather flimsy
How is the Nasci flimsier?
They use exactly the same gears; the same anti-reverse clutch and same main shaft.
Body and rotor are the same except for paint finish.

The Sedona uses a plastic bushing on one end iof the pinion gear wheras the Nasci uses a ball bearing.

Nasci's clutch is protected by a labyrinth style waterproof +rubber gasket as well as an o-ring on top of the rotor. Nasci's main gear bearings are proteceted by rubber gaskets.
The Sedona forgoes these protection features although I am pretty sure you could buy the Nasci parts and fit them to a Sedona.

Nasci's drag washers are carbon vs felt in the Sedona; you could upgrade your Sedona by buying the Nasci's washers.
