Hi Guys I'm in the market for a new rod (12,6 - 14ft) for my new Daiwa BG 4500 reel. I'm looking for edibles only, like galjoen, cob, steenbras etc. Not really worried about catching sharks etc, but if they want lunch, we can have that fight.I have a 10ft adrenalin triple x with a penn grinder already spooled with mono The BG 4500 is spooled with braid. What will be the best option for the BG 4500. I'm not sure I will go out spinning lures, but who knows, will be good to have all the options covered. Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated Attachment: cast.jpg (Downloaded 54 times) Last edited on Thu Feb 18th, 2021 09:01 am by scooter |

Currently have the metaloid 13.6ft (6-8 ounce) paired with a bg5000. Thinking of perhaps getting a bg6500 for the metaloid 13.6ft. Think for 4500 the 12f metaloid will be a better fit.

Hi Guys Update. I bought a Metaloid 12'6 surf spin from Ganis On-Line Shop on Monday, received it (in CPT )on Thuesday ( @ R1 650.00) What a bargian. !! Remember , I still a newby, so no technical detail. Its paired with a BG 4500. And this morning I took it out to the big blue. No wind knots , nothing. (a couple of not to mention throughs) but when it goes, it goes. I need to work on my distance, but I'm sure I hit the 70-80m mark with mono. (still a bit afraid for the braid) Will do that when I hit the 100m with the mono. (14kg mono). No catch, it was more of a "hands on" training session, in a very very strong south east wind. Still unsure what is the best way of having the hands in the correct position, but Dr Google is available 24x7. And when I had the rod in my hand, I could actually not feel the BG 4500 on it, so I guess its what you call "balance". Damm, its a beautiful rod, that graphite look, and I can't wait to get out again next weekend. Thanks to all who gave advice. ![]() Last edited on Sun Feb 28th, 2021 07:13 am by scooter |
