Hi All

looking for a good/excellent Stella 3000 as my estuary spinning reel.

Cash waiting for a fair deal, or I have various medium sized spinning/grinder reels (Twinpower, Stella etc) in 4000/5000 size to swap/trade.

Please let me know what you have?

Cheers

Why specifically a Stella 3000? There are plenty of other spinning reel manufacturers as good as, or better...?

Well....now there's a question Kosi!

I'm specific on the size, this is for my leerie/kob spinning outfit and i fish estuaries with large leeries (no, not Breede.....) and good kob. So whilst i could fish a 2500 (or even a 2000) for this application, i prefer the 3000 for more drag and braid to be safe in my locations. IMHO anything larger is unwieldy and inappropriate for estuary fish, unless you're taregtting rays or similar, and maybe you catch the 20kg plus leerie or massive kob....

Now to the Stella. To be honest, i don't need a Stella, I just want one - i've got stradics, sustains and twinpowers, but not necessarily in the correct size. I've also got cheaper reels and a few diawa BG in sizes you can't buy here in SA (ie imported) and they're great.

But for me spinning is active, and pure - i'm involved in every crank of the handle and i want to feel mechanical quality, or flipped around not have to think about plasticky feel, wobbly handle, backlash or jerky drag to distract me when i'm doing something that feeds my soul.

As to alternates i can't think of anything approaching that level of quality, excepting a Daiwa Certate or Saltiga (too large) BUT they're difficult to source here in SA and i'm not buying new!!!

So yes the Stella won't catch me more fish or probably even exceed the capabilities of a stradic or sustain for example (at estuary level), but that's not the point. Basically you could call me fussy- it's not a need, it's a want.

What can i say?

Very well explained, and I can see a lot of thought has gone into the choice of reel. We anglers can be strange in many ways, choice of tackle being just one of them.

Good luck in getting your Stella, and tight lines when you get it!

Hi

I speak under correction but I think the 3000 spool fits on a 4000.

Perhaps give the tackle shops a shout to confirm.

Hi Jihaad

Thanks and will check it out, but i had understood that Shimano that the 3000 size is based on the 2500 body/mechanism so is a smaller reel body? They often call it the 3000C, the C being for compact?

Does anybody have any thoughts/info on this?
