Reel Oil and Grease Alternatives

Hi Guys

I was searching on what alternatives there are for the normal (expensive) reel oils and grease.

What do you use that is not the standard "fishing reel" oil or grease.

Hi following reel oils and grease I use.


Okuma reel oil
Okuma drag grease
Cals drag grease
Pen reel oil
Pen drag washer grease
Quantum hot sauce reel oil
Quantum hot sauce grease

Some of these are expensive but it's worth it you only need small amounts little goes a long way..

I was in a tackle shop yesterday and they have some grease (a dark redish color) in a little tub at the till point, I guess about a tablespoon full for R40.
Now I'm nor sure about prices, but damm, that just looksso expensive and feels like we gets smoked by the suppliers.
What about marine grease they use on outbord motors? that surely is saltwater resistent?
