GRAPNEL SINKER MOULDS

Hi Ppl.

Sinker prices have gone trough the roof. Imagine paying R10.00 for a 7 ounce sinker.

This is rediculous as the price of lead is +/- R10/kg. A 7 ounce sinker is 198g which means you get 5 sinkers out of 1kg of lead. So with the wires that you need a Sinkler should not cost more than R2.50 to make.

I have been making sinkers since I started fishing and its easy. All you need is a solid two plate stove or a gas bottle with a burner, a pot ( sommer grip one of the missus old pots), and what they call a " blik beker " in Afrikaans and of course a mould. And your on your way.

My sinkers I make come complete with the clip to clip your sinker to the bait and I use 1.6mm Sprinsteel for the wires. Got a contact in Pinetown where I get my spring steel. When we make sinkers as a club we make up to 200 in a night.

I currently  make grapnel moulds From 4 ounce to 7 ounce (8 and  9 ounce are in the pipeline). These are Break away moulds and you pour one Sinker at a time.

Any one interested Can contact me on 0741037036 or mail me at

Will post some more info on how I make my sinkers

Mickey - I am compensating for something else hey.

10oz Sinkers are very difficult to get hold of and I do use them reglarly especially in transkei from high ledges or when slide a big bait.

plus I get my daily exercise when casting them lol

Hi Ppl.

Here is a link to a post done by my verry first customer for the moulds.

http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=2350&forum_id=10&jump_to=27358#p27358

Unfortunately I have been busy chasing Escapee's in the wonderfull bushes of KZN so the moulds had to take a back seat for a few days. Luckily the operation is ending the end of this week so I can return to normal and dedicate all my time to my moulds, clips and straps.

The 8 and 9 ounce moulds are available now. the ten ounce mould is in the pipeline.

Hi Killy

glad to hear that you are satisfied with the mould.

my lead i get from any scrap yard my final option is to go to reclaim

I'm selling the springsteel wires cut to the right length in bundles of 200.

It is 1.6mm that will work for the 4oz to 7oz

the place that supplies me only supplies in 10kg rolls which cost a pretty bundle.

I decided that it makes sense for me to buy the bundle and sell it with the moulds.

and so far it has been working quite well.

Will be getting 2.0mm springsteel wires for the 8oz 9oz and 10oz iff there is a demand for it.
