Hi all.

Have anyone fished there before? I have a contact for accommodation and I heard it is an awesome place.

Looks like it will be good. Not much in the way of development. No visible footpaths so that must say something. Horsing fish up the rock face might be a problem but who cares. Waiting for a report.

The area is pretty rough and dangerous..the walk past Vic Bay to Ballots Bay onward to Gwaing river mouth is rough going and tricky, especially if you are carrying your tackle. To climb down to some of the spots is also difficult and should not be attempted alone. Never work alone on any rocky areas, as one can be caught unawares by a freak swell/wave.

Galjoen, Wrasse, Kob, Elwe, Cracker's and the other usual big predators - can be found along this stretch of rocky coast.

PS. did you say the accomodation is awesome?

Psy, you see the two houses in the valley next to the river, I can get one for a very decent rate.

I often fish this area and is 1 of my favourite spots. Its an excellent spot for big shad.Good catches of kob(some realy big ones can be caught here during summer evenings),big blacktail,Roman, black musselcracker, lots of small rock fish, raggies, greys, smoothhounds, duckbulls and spotted gullys are made there. There is a foot path to the point on the south side of the bay.It is advisable to fish with someone who knows the area well.

Ive never tried the river but it looks pretty dead, however I dont pay much attention to the river except when the outgoing tide brings discoloured water into the bay, but it might have potential.

There's an article in today's paper.
A woman's body was found down a cliff in Ballots Bay.
It was spotted by a fisherman, and was difficult to retrieve by the authorities.

Be careful and aware.

FISHED THERE A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE EASIEST WAY TO GET THERE IS IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WITH THE REMOTE TO GET THROUGH THE GATE THEN U CAN DRIVE TILL THE RIVER MOUTH JUST REMEMBER IT IS MORE LIKE A STREAM NOW. SPOKE TO A RESIDENT THERE HE SAID ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO THEY CAUGHT TUNA FROM THERE BUT NOT BIG ONES. I MYSELF HAVE HAD 2 AWESOME RUNS THERE WHERE THE FISH HAS TAKEN ALL MY LINE. I`VE ALSO CAUGHT SOME BIG SHAD THERE, WOULD LOVE TO GO THERE AGAIN BUT MUST ORGANISE THE REMOTE. JUST REMEMBER IT IS A PRIVATE BAY SO PLEASE KEEP IT CLEAN ELSE SECURITY WILL TIGHTEN UP:blah
