My experiment is under way.
4 differnt brands.
Top left and top right are Surecatch.
Bottom left is Lion tackle
Bottom right is XXX

I am using 2 of each 1 goes in water, the other on the shelf in a dark cupboard. I charged them for 5min.

5 minutes have passed and they are all still glowing.

Interesting.
The surecatch ones died fairly quickly and the others went on to just under 10 min. In or out of water made no difference.

Next experiment. Charge for 1 hour vs 1 min.

but if they really are that bad why do so many top anglers use em?
Squids are also about movement.

The beads.. For beck fishing off the boat, sometimes 5min is long enough. If they are there they will eat. Besides we drift for 5 min. then the bait comes out and put at the light. Down for 5 again!

Photoluminescent Pigment

Photoluminescence is a feature of a specialised pigments which glow bright in dark conditions. These pigments absorb ultra-violet light from any light source and store this energy. In dark conditions, this energy is slowly released in the form of visible light for a period of up to 12 hours.

Alkaline earth aluminate pigment is a new type of pigment that exhibits extremely high brilliance and long afterglow times. The luminosity and after-glow time are over 30 times that of traditional Zns products.  These pigments are used as additives in a variety of applications including paints, plastics and resins.

Interresting facts guys......thanks.

so the question remains do they work? A glow bead or a skirt?

would apear that the only purpose a bead would serve is as a spacer to protect your knots.

what about a skirt, at night or in dirty water no purpose, rather get as much smell in the water as posible. In clean water a piece of shiny sardine skin or makkie skin will do just as much a shiny skirt to attrack the fish. right or wrong?

Skrops,
I still think if you get decent beads for night fishing it does work, be it for 10min. They are so cheap, if it gives you a 10min advantage, it's still 10min. If there is fish nearby they will spot it, but if you fishing in a desert.. Well thats a different story, then only smell will attract them.
