  • Andy Roper will be at OPBC on Saturday 28 Nov. for those who want their boats surveyed as well. He can also replace expired flares.
  • There will be Organic Food Stalls, selling their fresh produce ( meat, veggies & salads)

Hi Allan,

Not sure if Duck’n Dive will be competing in the comp on the day, however if all fails I’ll definitely come through to enjoy a few cold ones at the weighing ceremony.

Tight lines

Report on 28 November OPBC Cape Bream Derby

Yet again Saturday turned out to be a peach of a day. Only 22 entries for the day. The bigger Bream were caught off Campsbay area in shallow water. A few boats ventured off to Robben Island for the elusive Yellow Tail. I had so many enquiries and request to throw in a prize for the heaviest Yellow Tail, and so I did. A good number of  Yellow Tail were landed. Pity that the majority were caught on boats that weren’t registered.

Prizes awarded;

Juniors

                    No Entries

Ladies
  1. Shirley Heath 1.02 kg ,R500.00
  2. Eve Hopf        1.00 kg
  3. None
Open
  1. Freddy du Plesis         1.66 kg, - R500.00,
  2. Faffa de Jager             1.50 kg,
  3. Ettienne Rademeyer   1.27 kg,

Boat Prize (Heaviest 4 fish collectively)

  1. “Yollie”            4.44 kg   - R500.00
  2. Oceana One      4.36 kg
  3. For Fun             3.53 kg
  4. Brass Bullit 2    3.12 Kg

Heaviest Yellow Tail

Gavin Long – 2. 41 kg    R200.00

In conclusion; Congrats to the winners. Thanks to everyone that participated. Everyone caught fish, had fun and enjoyed the “Boeri-Roll”.

Everyone entered walked away with a prize, as we had a “Lucky Draw”.

The Organic foodstalls were a greatly supported and the music created a festive atmosphere.

A big thanks to our sponsors;

  • Hi Q – N 1 City
  • Viking Marine Safety Equipment
  • Michael Moose – Case of Grape Juice
  • Allan Barnard – Knife set
  • Duel – Disposable Shaving kits

A special thanks to Andy Roper, Jo-Anne Raubenheimer, Ian Norris & Ridwa for assisting in making the event a success.

Next competition,
