Well you do need a license for freshwater fishing, been asked plenty times, so i presume so! Rather be safe than sorry!

You do need one but they are hard to come by, mine was bought from the officials that patrol some dams once every 34 years to check for them.

In Cape Town you have to buy them from Cape Nature in Rondebosch what a schlep - and theyre only open business hours Mon to Fri

Hi some of the provinces did scrap the fresh water fishing licenses .
I am not to sure of Natal,think they one of them.
Some of the official coming around here, sell one if you don't have one.No way they can take your stuff,like in the days gone past !
Best they can do is wright you a ticket.My opinion then if they need to take pen and paper to write a ticket.They may just as well take a pen and paper and write me a licence
