We went fishing on a charter called Sharky in Mosselbay over the december holiday. The skipper and deckhand kills anything that they don't keep(seabarbel and sharks),after the days fishing they threw all their rubbish in the water. My nephew was in a state when he saw this, the first thing he told his parents when he got home was that the guys kill all the fish and let them float in the ocean. The skipper fished with a babelaas and we fished only two spots. When i told the owner about this she just said sorry and that she wil speak to the skipper. I will not fish with them again, what a waste of R550.

The better boats for chartering are "Dankie Pa" and "Dream catcher". These guys always seem to bring home the fish even when other guys catch nothing.

We booked the early launch at 05.00 paid dep for 4 people and was told later that they made a double booking and we could go at 12.00. Got phone call later and were told they caught plenty Tuna and if we could be there at 10.30 to go out as the tuna's were on the bite. Excited by this news we raced to be on time, launched, trawled for about 3 hours, caught 1 5kg tuna. I then asked the skipper to take us to a good spot for bottom. At the reef he got in his cabin and went straight to sleep????????? We drifted from the reef and the current were so strong it was difficult hitting bottom. Caught 7 slingers between 6 people and after about 1-2 hours the skippers woke and we went back. 7 slingers between 6 people @ R450 each???? I'm having mine stuffed cos they too @#$% expensive to eat!!!

I must say its always good to hear which are the best charters around. At shelly I have fished many times with awesome and sensational both of whom run an excellent business.

I have maybe part solution, not to sure if it's practical, not to sure how many members are on Sealine and how many have boats, I know for a fact I'm always looking for crew, why must our members be ripped by these charters.Get a system whereby say if I'm going to Eg Shelly or R/B let the members knows what the dates are and if I have space available, share cost and some good stories while we at it.just a thought

Would be great if we could all share cost etc, and get to meet many more sealine members. If members with boats say post what, where and when they going out I'm sure the response would be many. Let's here from some boat owners.

walktall i think you have a great idea,i for one will much rather fish with a fellow sealine member and pay him to go fish knowing that he wants to catch some fish aswell not like a lot of the charters who's just in it for the money.they couldn't care less if they catch anything or not.![]()
