Hi Rog, there were 5 of us,
Malgas back from holiday, Simisteven looking for cobbie's big brother, Taito - newcomer, welcome, Rujuan, owner of my old boat, Binks nice to join again. The sea was flat, and we paddled the Bay flat, from Kings Beach/ harbour area, to Phillips to past the Bell. Mostly really small stuff, and then we got into a congregation of hammers between Phillips & the Bell. I got broken off by one and got a good one of 1,5m plus to the boat - new species for me and nice size - really tight drag, bullied it as hard as i could; bent my jigging stick like there was no tomorrow :)
Anyone else's highlights?

It was a great day to paddle, and the sunrise was exceptional. Also a good day for sharks- I think what happened was we strayed onto the deeper water side of the Bellbouy and found them? I am still trying to work out whether a shark I caught was a Smooth hound or a Spotted Gully. It was about 1,2m, and had a fawn coluor, paler underneath, light green eye and rows of small teeth. Any expert opinion? I would say spots but I only saw those after the paddle back -from pushing it too hard and completing our 13k plus circuit- needed some sweet coffee!

Hey Malgas, those spots you saw on the way back were whales - quite close in near something good - whale of a time had... hoho sorry

There were actually 6 of us when we left and your headcount comes to 5 so maybe one of the whales is giving one of the guys a "Jonah" experience -near to Something Good?!

Hi Fish -on, all the best to you and yours for 2010. Possibly the best way to get guys together in one place is to take up Steve's (of Comm Marine fame) offer?? to get a comp going and use it as a forum to put it to the guys who are actively fishing/ interested?

Good idea ,i just spoke to Steve earlier ,as you know he is planning the comp for March

In the meantime we should get a unofficial club going

maybe we can fish a edible  comp  this Sat ,seeing a lot of us are beginners ,we should start in the bay

meet at the pier 4 30am,fish from 5 - 10 am,weigh in at Beacon Marine drive 11 am

entry fee R50

Heavest fish 60% prize money ,2nd  30% prize money,3rd  10% prize money

We can set up a leaderboard  and have monthly compos and social meeting [meet for a beer ,look nonsense etc]

Malgas,Fredster,Rog,Steve,Binks,Fish o Mania,Danie,Outlander07,LoisP,Beermuda and Skallabrak ,etc    what do you guys think ??

Binks, there is an unofficial rule. If you catch any Hammer Head over one metre, you have to get off and ride it like a Harley !
