Please look below.

This is the proposed new tarrifs for recreational fishing but i suspect there might be other tarrifs of interest for certain other people.

I think it is redicilous to say the least!!!

Recreational!!!

WC Lobster - R500

Bait (molluscs etc) - 300

Angling - 200

Spearfishing - 300

Throw net - 300

That's R1600 just for me, and another 1000 for the wife!!!!

The person that sent it to me said petitions dont work at all.  Individual letters signed by the individual regarding the matter.  En Masse!!!!

We need 12000 signed individual letters here most chop chop like.  I can't afford this...

Ag nee man, waar gaan dit einde kry?

They don't need to build the angler stadiums and all other what nots. We don't need new infrastructures and busses and TV ad's ect.

The best part is, I want to go to the baan this coming Sunday but need to take out a new permit! Weee jy, ek begin sommer goeie Afrikaans te gebruik!

Now guys we can skree on here, or we can write letters and get our wives girlfriends and mother in laws to also write letters.

It might help it might not but its worth a try.

Lol... this is actually funny in a few ways, but most of all because they will be loosing so much money with this they wouldn't have the funds to employ people to police the permits. :fbash

Luckily I'm a subsistence fisherman ...

like I said a million times before ... laws are created TO MAKE CRIMINALS out of law abiding citizens !

Last year I said one day we'll have zones where we are allowed to fish (we are a minority), wonder how long it will take ...

get the tackle manufacturers involved , at the end of the day fishing is a million dollar business and who will ultimately suffer with the anglers ? I am not taking tackle shops , I am taking the big boys. Money makes the world go round , if MCM can be paid by known fishing pirates to fish offshore then surely we the tackle manufacturers can do so also.

I for one will not be paying that much money !! Sorry , law or not , it might be officially the law but that does not make it right. So they can eff off for all I care.

Note I speak for myself and do not represent any club or affiliation re this matter.

So have I read this correctly - ski boat fishermen ( the owner of the boat) have to pay R500 on top of all these new fees?

Neilg how does one qualify to be a subsistence fishermen? Can white people also be subsistence fishermen?

Wonder if the fines are going to increase as well - because in 12 years of buying fishing licences i have been checked 3 times... i reckon i wont buy one then and risk the chance of a fine :) once in a blue moon!

If fees go up as much then perhaps I shuld consider not buying a permit as well. I have been checked only twice. Perhaps I should fish in the areas where there are few inpectors!

This is Crazy, extortion!!! I know people that work for MCM that fish recreationally and they writing letters of complaints about these intended increase in prices!

So, please mail this to everyone that you know and lets get every single angler and fisherman to protest!

Or we can arrange a mass march or protest outside MCM!!!!

I wish there could be a 'Sealine' united stand against this, as I have to wonder about the number of the proposed letters that will actually be opened, never mind read and noted.

Secondly, what about a 'savings club approach', meaning that we all deposit our 'normal/current' fees into an administered account and then the few that will be copped, have their fines paid from the fund?

Bottom-line is that many people will not pay these fees, some will be lost to the sport and others will be criminalized.

Go Kortbroek, the attention you got and 'shag-the-whities' kudos you got for the 4 X 4 ban have started to diminish, so now this - worried about getting fired after the WC 2010?
