wow Alwyn, quite a collection you've got there!:clap12:clap12 Thanks for sharing!

What's the history behind the German dagger? When you say SA, what are we talking about? Shouldn't that be SS?

My son has one of those .303 bayonets, identical to yours. Got it from his granddad. Very Nice collectors piece that
Shutzstaffel (protective squadron) or ss had an almost identical dagger to the SA version, apart from the black hilt and motto on the blade(meine ehre heibt treue) my honour is named loyalty.

Very interesting Alwyn! I see most of your collection falls under Militaria. You collect insignia aswell? Perhaps another thread all on its own?

My knife fetish leans more to the outdoors....and more recently, the wild wild West! lol

Insignia not really, i have just kept most of my own, gave a huge collection of flashes away in the late 80s, sorry now but as my wife says, if its not attached  to you you'll give it away. i have quite a bit of outdoors and carry stuff as well, will photograph it and post soon.

As a matter of interest, here's a great forum for all dedicated knife lovers; http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/index.php?referral/57155/

I recently subscribed under the nick 'SA hunter'. Very helpful and knowledgeable bunch of guys in all matters knife related they are. Alwyn, there is a dedicated sticky Solingen thread aswell. I'm sure the guys there would be very interested in that little piece of yours. In fact, they will probably tell you something about it!

You cannot believe how well these were made after all these years the knife still fits snug in its scabbard.
