What do you guys recon is the best tasting fish in the sea?

I will have to say that Dorado and Swordfish are the best in my opinion.

A fresh Snoek or Yellowtail done properly on the braai is however also up there!

Rockcod does it for me... Dorado close second and a fresh Natal Salmon 3rd. Oh and lets not forget the Shad sashimi with Soy and Wasabi on the beach!

Has anyone tasted seventy four?  My old man used to say thats the tastiest fish ever, but sadly now, there is not much to be seen.  would have loved to have tasted it.

I have a mate who use to work in a canning factory and every now and then they would get a few Patagonian Toothfish in their nets - he reckons that was in a league of its own.

My personal favourite game fish is Dorardo - always a winner, no matter how you cook it.  Wahoo is also quite good.  Couta isn't bad either.

As for bottom fish, like Reefman says, you can't beat a rockcod, and the best rockcod in my opinion is a swallowtail rockcod.

Smaller kabeljou & geelbek makes the best curries.

YFT is dry but I guess okay on a braai or in a salad!

Butterfish gives me the runs!

Yea I agrree with Dorado 75 Dorado and sailfish are exellent.
Had some fresh sailfish on the braai last weekend - awsome!
I would also have to put yellowtail on the braai very high on my list. The secret is to braai it skin down and never turn the fish over. Mix up a basting sauce with garlic , butter, mixed herbs(small amount),lemon juice, black pepper and some spices. Braai until fish is cooked through. Dont overdo it because yellowtail becomes dry very quickly. Prepare to make a pig of yoursef!

Guys, the fish you caught yourself has to be the tastiest.

I'm very partial to shad. I've so many good things about dorado that I am making dorado one of my goals for this year. I need to taste it and if I have my way catch one too.

Gillie...... i worked on Toothfish boats for a few years and had a endless supply of the stuff and i have to say that it is a aquired taste, it is extremely oily!

I forgot one other fish...... how many of you guys have tried White Mussle cracker, had some a few years ago and that was also pretty good!!

Are you guys forgetting a good sized blacktail there? And yes 200ts, the 74 bream was an awesome tasting fish. Made into a breyani, finger licking good. Oh, and don't forget the Baracuda guys! Yummy!
