Nice catties.
Some good catches on lure too. I hooked a 13kg cat on a spinnerbait and 4kg line in Cinderella dam in Boksburg many years ago. Gave me one heck of a fight in my float tube. Thought I had a monster bass at first lol

Hi thanks guys, hopefully we'll manage to land the elusive 20 somethings here at Parys this summer! @Eugene hahaha, thanks. I have been living here for almost six years now and had always struggled to land Largemouths... And then on a wet, cold day in December last year, I managed to land two in consecutive fishing days. The water level had also risen a lot during that weekend. It was that typical weather where one would normally just stay in bed (rainy and very cold) but my friend Jacques, my dad and I decided not to let a little rain stop us. We zipped up our raincoats and made peace with the fact that we'd probably have a cold for the rest of our holiday. I know now afterwards, catching again and again and again in this cooler wet weather that this is just what the big large mouths want! On that particular day we caught many smallmouths over 4kgs, an 8kg Largemouth and then also a couple of smaller catfish on crab and also on fly. The next day I landed This beauty (Avatar) right after a heavy thunderstorm - We had to use our canoes as shelter, hahaha! Astoundingly the fish didn't take my bait hard like I'm used to when rigged with crab. We thought at first that it was a small cat chewing on it. The indicator just rose and then fell, rose and fell, so I decided to strike on the next rise of the indicator. THEN IT WAS CHAOS!!!  I had to jump into my canoe after it had stripped my reel naked within seconds and then I also had to fight the fish for maybe 45 minutes because I had no landing net with me on board as I was taken downstream more than 500m away from the guys and I wasn't properly geared for a fish that size. Eventually I managed to work my way to bank. By then the guys had caught up with me. We landed the fish, weighed all 10,7kg of it, took a couple of photies, I kissed the misses a good farewell and set her free to grow even bigger! I must tell you that it was definitely worth the effort. An unforgettable and memorable story. I'm just glad my dad was there to see the fish, because he was getting tired of all my fisherman stories!! ::tight:
