By this time Wikus had managed to nearly land a very big smooth hound, while it was still a little dark. He just put the rod into the rodholder after shaking down the livie, and the drag started screaming. Unfortunately the hook trace broke right at the side.

As mentioned Galjoen was on with another smoothie... 167cm when it was landed.... as per the last competition me and him fished together, i saw my rod dip while he was fighting a shark.... i thought perhaps wave action, but the next bounce had me running accross the rocks. Hold the rod... dip dip, he's there!!! one nice strike and VAS!! work him in nicely, then a wave comes in and i think it's off.... play nicely, hope it's not a shark... then i saw the silver and i knew i was on the scoreboard!!! Don't mind the tail.. wikus tried to change my kobbie into a geelbek at the weigh in. And yes i did catch it on the mullet i said would catch one!!! Thanx oom!

Anycase kob is on the scoreboard. Then nothing for an hour or so. We decide to head down to the aasbankies and try our luck for the SSEC club comp by trying for some reef fish. Galjoen slided in a mullet so big it could have been weighed in as an edible.... We then all went onto the aasbankies but the "dooie gety" was just too high to get to the nicer spots. But anycase all of us tried. Wikus and Myself went quite far to the left. His rod with the monster mullet being all the way to the right.... The time had come for the weigh in. Now a lot of guys were congratulating me already, but i had fished a couple of these comps where the winning fish was caught in the last 30 minutes. After Trini D left in a rush the morning, and not seeing Monty for the whole day i was nervous. There were a lot of good anglers that took part. The Villiage People supported our comp with a lot of their anglers. Thanx again guys! Every now and then you'd see a bakkie speeding around the corner as the time grew nearer.
