Had a chat to one of my bosses at work and found out the Kingfisher classic emblem is 76 year's old. . .

I put this emblem proudly on all my Poseidon custom built rod's. . . .

KingFisher is the successor to J (F?)King & co, which traded in West Street. They moved to Hunter St, & +- 15 years ago became The Kingfisher after a management buy-out, but retained the original company's logo.

Edwark K. Tryon Company used the Kingfisher emblem as its Trademark. The company was established in 1811.

I am new at this site and am not familiar with file size yet. The next time I will make the file smaller

Hi Miyagi

I must try and check up but I think that King Sports has its origins in a company that started up in around the 1870's selling outdoor stuff in Durban.

I think that the main line was guns and ammo.

Thanks for the Welcome.

The letter I posted may not apply to the Kingfisher brand you guys are talking about. The Edward K. Tryon Company was a hardware company in Philadelphia, Pa. They put their Trademark on many different fishing reel brands, so I figured it might relate to what was being talked about in this post.

Anyways, I find this forum very interesting. I am a member of ORCA (Old Reel Collector Association), they have a similar type forum.

My specialty is Penn reels.

Welcome at Sealine

I am myself a serious reel collector and prefer both Penn and ABU (Sweden models)

I had a look at your ORCA membership, but sadly with the weak ZA rand. Membership for me will remain a dream.

Hello 'Fritzabu;

You can review the forums and the website at no charge. If you have Penn questions, I may be able to answer them, especially early Penn reels. I have made a very extensive study of the first 25 years of Penn Reels.

Thanks for the welcome.
