Hi All As has been widely discussed, you are required to have a permit if you want to travel to remote fishing spots such as Boiling Pot, Nqorra River or Mlungwhane. The permit is free and designates the area you can travel The lady you can contact is Anet Landman Tel No: 043 7074055 Fax No: 0865190526 anet.landman@deaet.ecape.gov.za Here's the application form Attachment: Trankei - driving permit Application.jpg (Downloaded 3104 times) Last edited on Mon Aug 15th, 2011 12:20 pm by Enigma |

You apply for the permit per visit. It takes 24-48 hours for issuing but as with all government departments i would recommend applying 2 weeks in advance From what I understand there are 2 different offices one for South and the other for North but I'm sure anet can elaborate.

Has anyone been fined although you these permits in hand. I got a permit in April which I used, but it had very strange wording on it. I requested a permit for the area between the Umtata river mouth and Mbolompo point. The wording on the permit stated that driving off the road at Umtate river mouth and at Mbolompo was allowed. All the areas inbetween seemed to be excluded.

Hi guys I have applyed for the permit. STILL WAITING You have to apply at the umtata office because caffee bay & hole in the wall is in there regon. I have been waiting for 10 days now if no reply i will have to phone them again. Why dont thay just open a office in Coffee bay or hole in the wall so that a person can get there permits and maps ?

Along with the permits come rules and regulations that are brought to your attention, this is a manner of making sure you know of such rules and regulations as many of the "Affluent" occasional visitors abuse these routes and tear them up with the extravagant 4 x 4's threatening to have them closed to all the visitors to these largely unspoilt areas.
