Good morning from Hemmingways Kenya. Its a stunning day today, still a little breeze, but the 25 Knot SE that was blowing until i went to bed last night has died down a bit.
It was loooong journey to get here, from flight delyas in CT, right up to the bumpy bus ride from Mombasa yesterday afternoon. The more they poured they kept pouring those Captains (with whatever mix they could find) the more we needed to find suitable places to relieve ourselves continually along the bumpy road. And i did i mention that these okes drive like crazy people ???
Anywas, we arrived in tact, and this place is absolutely awesome. We'll post some photos later.
Last night we had a cocktail party, where we met all the skippers and Capt Morgan once again. We were also given an awesome Capt Morgan jacket with our names emroidered on, which i thought was a great touch.
I have now met most of the other fisherman, and i think we have the best team, its myself, Marshie, Riaan Raubenheimer, and Jason Brink. Our first fishing day is tomorrow, with the skipper Kampie, on the boat Ol Jogi. Lots of ther teams are fishing today already, and I'll update the catches later.
Today we are gonn alay in the sun, its very hot already, swim, dive etc, and again become more acquainted with the Captain himself !!!
Have a great day RB

Yes, we can see the rum is going down well. You must have passed out with your finger on the 'post reply' button......lol!!!
And yeah, sounds like you have a great team there. Jason is a good mate of mine and a damn good fisherman!
Tight lines!

and thecaptains are still flowing............great day relaxing today in the sun, some awesome snorlelling in amonst shoals of what looked liked Giant Strepies.
The fishing was slow today, with only 4 Sailies caught for the entire fleet.........the wind has dropped, and if my skipper for tomorrow doesnt hot the Capatin too hard tomorrow, we may have a great day. Off to dinner now, and more Captain....update with photos tomorrow.......standing bye !!

What an amazing day today fishing aboard Ol Jogi 2, with Campi, the fishing eas slow again today, we ended up with a bunch of Dorado, and a couple of small YFT. But...........we lost the biggest Markin i have ever seen, the skipper estimates it over 600lb, it took a lure on a Tiagra 50, and peeled off about 500m of line on its first run, jumping and going wild, it was an awesome spectacle to witness. Apparently a lot of big blues get lost this way, as they turn towards the boat, the throw a bow into the line, and then turn away agaain, and the sudden whiplash as the line pulls tight, just popped the main line. I was on the rod, and i was left knees shaking, sweating, and almost in tears. As Erwin Bursik said, its better to have loved for a short while, than to never have loved at all. That already made this trip, just to witness such a beautiful fish take flight. I love this sport more for it. So, we are not yet on the score board, and only 3 Sailies and 1 Stripey were caught today in total. Lindsay Austin got 1 of those Sailies,so he is as happy as a pig in the proverbial !!! Tomorrow is another day, and we are fishing with the top skipper. Our strategy is to boat a few Sailies early, and then head South to where we found that Monster today, and see if we can get a Marlin or two as well. The weather is stunning, the water was 29 deg today, and the most beautiful purple blue that you have ever seen.............and teh Captains are still flowing.........off to dinner now, and then a session with the Captain himself. Another very slow day in Kenya today........hope it hots up in the next few days. Today, again, we caught some nice Dorado and small YFT. A couple of Sailies were caught amongst the entire fleet, and we also saw a boat getting violated by a big Blue in the same area as we lost ours yesterday.Tomorrow is total day off, and the wind has swung into the correct direction, NE, so hopefully this works for us. Our team is now really in need of a total smash if we aim aim to win or come anywhere near the top. Lindsay is on fire, and got another Sailie today, and their team has 3 in total. Tomorrow is the Pirates party up the creek, so looking forward to that, and a good day with the Captain. Off to dinner now....cheers RB
