Reel Magic Charters Action Update!!

Hate to say we told you so, but we landed and tagged a 300lb blue and a 60-70 kg stripey on 30lb today. Let the blue go even though it was double the record as I know we can do much better especially after the fish on Saturday..was this blues lucky day! Didnt even photograph it as its on go pro. Took pics of the stripey and my new leaderman/cameraman in training..Dale Leenstra...check the headgear haha.
Fish on Big T Vanatu and Etosha(stripey).

Another magic day on the water. Dropped a stripey early then some gamefish (Dorado and Wahoo) and then had a double header on stripes and dropped one releasing other. Things looking better and better!

Went 0-1 on blue today dropping a nice blue after a good run. My leaderman Dale Leenstra set a new Junior SA Blue Marlin record of 230 kg on 30 lb fishing off Mitsu Fishi with Hansie Van Wyk!! Went on to release another two blues on a memorable day for the team - top effort guys!!

Good day yesterday after a frustrating start with a good stripey charging everything including the teazer and the exhaust on the boat when the teazer was removed. Second stripey caused the same havoc and waved goodbye. Glad to see a blue that had the manners not to play with his food and hooked up solid.

Another good day today with a big blue of 300 kg which unfortunately got tail wrapped and died on us. Client got more than what he bargained for and the fight of his life under big pressure to get her up again. 3 hour fight!

Note the snapped hook and parted leader loop onto the pigtail. Fish got wrapped and when the body straightened it broke everything. Came in attached only by the pigtail embedded in its tail and a few wraps of the leader...lucky angler unlucky fish!lure is the new Big T Zulu Impi with the same weighting as the new TT. Uv purple skirts!

Released a young black of 100kg early this morning and had a few Dorado jump on board. Sea was horrendous and the crew fragile. Hoping for a blue or two in the next two days..weather looking good. Pics later!

Reel Magic charters does it again running two boats for 6 clients at moment and our second boat Boyance skippered by Hansie Van Wyk landed two fish of 219 and 285 kg on standup. Our 2nd 600 pounder this season. Reel magic had a good blue on for a while before it threw the hooks. Some awesome big fish around at the moment. Pity the clients are not up to the pace resulting in a tail wrap and a DOA due to the time taken to get the fish up. Heres to hoping for some more good days and clients who can stand the pace!

Went 1-1 on a black on live bait on Reel Magic today making it a first marlin for 5 of the anglers in our 6 man group for the trip. Fortunately the unlucky one got a fish with us last year...full house!

Change over day today with two airport runs so no fishing for us and a huge pity! Sounds like all the boats got fish today with up to 3 fish on a boat..damn! Merry Christmas all!:::S

Well when marlin fishing is bad it really sucks! Have dropped 5 blues in 3 days and have run out of expletives. Thank goodness for a nice Yellowfin for a lucky 11 year old(Conrad) who's dad has given him 2 days charter for great school marks. Fished with us last year on his first sea outing and caught 3 tuna species. Upped his game somewhat this year with the biggest fish on Reel Magic for any 11 year old (58kg). Fought it like a champ unaided..great effort. Had a massive blue up that didnt hook up and it may have been just as well as its unlikely he would have managed. Next time Conrad!

Weldone Conrad! Shucks, I'm 102kg and battled with a 24kg Yfin. Good for you RMC! This is memory for this boy for a lifetime.
