Good fish in the Billfish 15000 and a few fish caught and lost off R Bay over the weekend. Will be down on Thurs and hopefully on the water on the weekend. Hopefully a good season ahead and reports soon- looking awesome

Were out on the weekend with some Scandinavian boys average age around 68 oldest 70 - tough old buggers! Sat we dropped 4 stripes and raised a blue that would not commit - not a great day. Sunday we fished probably the worst sea on a charter ever with 30 knots NE and a very KAK sea. Battled for pulls as we could not work the deeper line but squeaked home with an injury time black to save the day. Heavy day on the water, thank goodness for the reward! Had a hard time with the fish on the leader and struggled to hold it at the boat in very difficult conditions hence no pics. Next time  Attachment: DSC01109r.jpg (Downloaded 336 times)

Awesome action today off Richards Bay. Skippered Baluga for Dale Leenstra looking for a record blue on 10 kg/20lb line and dropped a 450lb Blue that ran us off after hitting the after burners even though the drag was backed off to a kilo. Tough catching these big fish on light tackle. Released another blue of 80 kg soon after and then had a stripey climb over the lures repeatedly and somehow did not hook up properly - Their way! Two nice Dorado for the pot too! Pity this weather is crappy for the next few days...THE GAME IS ON! This weather has got to give us a break before we break ourselves or a boat - fishing all day in this crud is no fun. Still we had a double Dorado smash which was reduced to a single when a nice blue clubbed the one off the lure and the other unhitched itself in the panic. Released a short bill and raised another that didnt commit. Will be committed soon if we continue fishing in these conditions! Still another bill for the day. had to collect clients yesterday - Was a bad day to miss out on yesterday - some good fish were raised and plenty stripes. Lady Els got a blue and had four stripe attacks but no hook up. Squeezed a day in between this ridiculous weather and landed a nice big Dorado again and missed a stripey that was in and out so quick we couldnt get the pitch Bait back to him in time. These arn't the big lure gobbling stripeys of NZ, these are the cape flats versions with cap on backwards and pants around the ankles - take your wallet without u knowing it kind! So much frustration at moment with wind and pouring rain forecast to continue into mid next week - just not summer!

Squeezed another day in 4-5m swell and 15-20 knots SW! Jeez I envy the guys fishing in calm seas in the tropics you need hair on your chest to fish this coast, think only the Aussies deal with this scenario. Anyway all good as we has a knock down , marked and worked the area and got hooked up on a nice blue of 400lb which was sent swimming after a good fight. Nice to on the sea and to report even though it was real hard going. Guess what another front just hit and its pouring and blowing...mmmm but we will be up and looking to go at 4am - just need a stiff shot to ease the bruising - check Dales tats and the sign left! ha ha Attachment: DSC01136r.jpg (Downloaded 179 times)

Super tough day on the ocean with 6-8 meter swell running and fortunately only 15 knots South or it would have been suicidal. Got a nice dorry on the way to the ledge followed by some small tuna and then went tight on a good blue early on. Launched late due to the rain and wind but the bashing was worth it in the end. Dropped another blue this afternoon but no worries as the the first had made our day. Hope I never have to fish another three days like this in a row for a long time. Dale and I are finished!
