What is the formula to be used to get from 30 38 436 (S) and 30 24 978(E) to degress, minutes and second readings, example 31°33'10.19"S and 30°12'14.40"E. Note that these two readings are not the converted figures but only exampls.

Hi S&T
I would guess that your original co-ordinates are in degrees and minutes. To get 38.436' to minutes and seconds, you have to multiply the 0.436' x60 = 26.16"
Therefore:
30°38,436'(S) = 30°38'26.16"
30°24,978'(E) = 30°24'58.68"

Seems correct.

There are some free internet software were you put numbers in a format and then you can convert it to any other format.

EasyGPS is one.

There is also one that can plot your numbers on google earth as well. Cannot remember the name, must have a look on pc.

Think I got the link here on Sealine somewhere.

On your unit / system you can change the co'ordinate system. change it to degree-minutes-seconds. Enter the figures. Then you can export them as Degrees-minutes.
