Hi there,
I live in Scotland as you will see from my PM to you about the Policansky reel I am seeking to have you renovate.
Penn 535's are very popular shore angling reels on the east coast of Scotland where anglers fish over very, very rough ground for Atlantic winter cod. The great virtue of this reel is that it has a 6.1-1 gear ratio and lifts baits and leads very quickly thus reducing the possibility of snagging. On this coast you only need cast about fifty yards but you need 100 lb braid straight through (i.e. no shockleader) and a 6-7 oz griplead most of the time. We use pulley rigs, lugworm, mackerel, squid, bluey and peeler crab as bait.
You will see Penn 535's sold regularly second hand on e-bay.uk
They are utterly indestructible and I would never sell mine. They are going in my coffin with me!
This is the best time to buy as the winter cod season is approaching its end and lighter tackle is called for now.
Best wishes.
Donald
