Hi guys,
I took my boat out yesterday for the first time,

As the boat gets on a plane and reaches about 25 knots the bow starts bouncing up and down. Please note i have no T&T so i set the tilt pin to the bottom after the first run and this made the Porpoising affect less.

What can i do to get rid of this.
- Hydrofoils?
- Transom wedges for more negative trim?
- Motor to deep?

Help will be much appreciated.
Here are some pics of the tilt left when tilted in/down
And one of motor height

hi,i know the calibre boats, since they were manufactured in Uitenhage,to solve your problem, you must fit on both sides of your motor, level with your hull,76 x 76 aluminium angle? say an piece of 200 wide.Round the bottom sharp edges, that will stop the boat from porpoising.

they actually came out standard with them.

Hi qglass,
Thanks for the advice, this makes alot of sense. It will act as fixed trim plates.
Now to get someone to do this for me. Thanks man.

I had 3 calibres, great boats ,but they all porpoise, fitting the angle will solve the problem, when mounted flush at the back?it leans downward.
76 x 76 will do the job?

99% of the time porpoising is caused by over trimming the motors. Trim it in and see what happens.

Looking at your rig, you have an 85HP motor. To achieve the 25 knots, you are probably trimming the motor too far out. Trimming it in may reduce the speed slightly as it increases the friction / resistance but it should help with the porpoising.

You can make any boat porpoise.

Hi Bennie,
I have got my motor all the way back/in. it definitely eases the affect but by adding the "trim Plates" will eliminate the affect on the setting i have the motor on now ( all the way in ). I Will be installing them today will post pics of it and i will test it tomorrow. Will report. t(((up((

Good day,
I Would like to report that the mods qglass suggested was successful.
The porpoising is completely gone, the boat gets onto a plane much quicker and the handling of the boat is better at hi speed.
I am hitting 34knots and it feels like nothing.
Thank you very much qglass, your advise was spot on.  t(((up((

I used a 76 x 76 x 6mm aluminum angle. I got them cut at 400mm a peace. Screwed them to the transom with 6 s/s screws sealed with marine sealer. Very vas!!

Really great advice. However I would consider rounding off the corners before someone cuts their leg open on them though, especially when the boat is in the water such as at launching time.

Hi Emjay,
Yes that is definitely going to be done, speciously to prevent cutting off a trophy fish. t(((up((

Hello Guys and mermaids

New to the forum...was struggling to get some info on the Baronet 15ft, till I stumbled onto this old thread.

I am a sailor, but buying an old Baronet 15ft as a restoration project. PJ can you maybe pm me some photos of your boat?
