Hi there I was thinking of making a first aid kit for my tackle box I was thinking of buying one but I'm going to make one up rather ,can anybody share with me what to get as I don't want to have things in it that I won't use, I would imagine taking some plasters, bandage, ect nothing fancy. Thanks.

Sometimes when you buy the full kit, it can be costly. I would suggest making up your own. Perhaps if you compile a list and go to an outlet or supermarket, it might work out much cheaper. Also then you'll only buy the goodies or extras you really require.

If you do a search, you find good info on what the okes carry with them.

A very good percentage of the made units carry stuff that are near expiry date or have expired. Especially with first aid you rather err on the side of caution and buy it off the shelf and look at expiry dates

You can make your own first aid kit by adding necessary items like
Scissor, Band aid, Needle or 2 for the unwanted objects like thorns or fish bones stuck into you - Some headache pills of your choice, tweezers, some bandages and
cotton wool for padding, don't forget the sunburn block or in case you have sunburn
to use freeze or something similar. And most of all wound cleaner.
remember this is just to help you out in an emergency till you can get to the chemist or doctor or after hours when all places are closed.

Just an idea

Whatever else you put in it, make sure you have hydrogen peroxide in it.

Make sure you have anti histamine pills in your pack. Getting stung by a blue bottle on a deserted beach and having an allergic reaction is no fun...

You will find various 'vet-plante' on most beaches countrywide.

These vet-plante can be used on the blue bottle sting.

Stefan, there's another type of vetplant...the one with the rounder leaves, grows a little further up the dune...im sure you have seen it before, i believe this is the one.

I have used cigarettes with very good results.

On my way to go buy a packet now. Does Texan or camel work better?

I would suggest "green Chesterfields" I use to enjoy them in the past!
