Hi Guys ....

Just a quick question ???

What would you guys say if we had our own online store here @ Sealine .

We complain about tackle shops being expensive !!!

We can support a supplier here thereby enabling us to focus all our $$$ to this supplier thereby enabling them to get  to get us better prices ....

Have your say ???

Maybe we can get something going here !!!

Regards

if it could save from being ripped off why not, at the same time it could also help with running cost of this great site

Like all things, if well managed it would work.

I think an online shop for sealiners would be awesome. It would also be a great way for various suppliers to punt there goods to a caputered markedt by giving the on line supplier good deals.

This forum would be a great place for any new products to be launched through and debated and the supliers would be able to get great feedback on their products via them being sold through the online shop.

Since many of us are on this site daily I for one would be grateful to be able to buy on line here instead of having to travel out to either Fourways, Woodmead or Benoni to go to a shop on the weekends when it is not often viable to do so.

We can get suppliers to even promote certain stuff say eg . " september special x-type line ..0.45 ..20lb ..R70 per spool ...." we could push quantaties ..lowering prices!!!

My vote would be a definite Yes!

I would love to see a Internet angling supply store where you have more choice than is the case with current shops. I think the biggest problem with our current online shops is that a lot of them is not dedicated enough to Internet sales, meaning that you get a limited range of products online compared to what is available "in-shop". E-mail or on-line queries also take a long time to get answered.

Maybe something in the lines of Kalahari.net may work? There you can view different products, and based on where the supplier is you get an estimate delivery time frame (e.g. usually shipped within 7 days, or available for overnight delivery).

I say YES

but

who pays for the development of the secure payment site ?
who pays for the stock that has to be bought ?

are you prepared to wait 1 week to get the stuff you want ?

i say definitly yes. i like to browse and it is easier for me to get things online than to go to a shop. for it to work though you need to make sure the prices are competitive with other online and even tavkle shops, in many cases should be cheaper as the overheads are lower. you must cater for all facetes, ie fresh water and salt in the various forms, have postage free after a certai amount paid.

my biggest thing with current online stores is they only stock a few brand items and you have to visit a few sites to compare also some of them dont display price lists and i tell you you would get more sales if people browsing could compare prices

Great idea yes !

Logistically though a bit of a nightmare to organise, but not entirely impossible.

As for stock - one will need to have arrangements and accounts with supplier - a broad range of suppliers to satisfy all the disciplines needs. Suppliers require credit checks and guarantees + you will need start up capital to keep an inventory.

Online payments - again costs involved in setting up an https portal for secure payments - or alternativlely try and link with Verisure (correct name?) - maybe even Paypal.
Can arrange internet transfers to a company bank account - again just a hassle to set up, if no CC or company exists yet. Obviously be registered for VAT and income tax - with the audits etc.

To arrange deliveries, one can use any overnight courier company and many are able to deliver between 24 - 48 hrs.
Again the only problem being setting up a 30 or 60 day account with them - re credit applications where reg no, VAT no etc are required.

Maybe on of the tackle shops advertising here can see the advantage and come in a partnership with Sealine as they would already some of the above in place ie supliers - being registered etc.

Hi Guys !

I live in Worcester and only drive to Cape Town to buy tackle mostly from Fishing Specialist because thats the only 1 I know, but it seems the prices are a little bit to high so for the last six months I bought from Fishing Tackle and Bassil Manning, both good service and fast delivery time but price wise I still think the guys profit margin is high

a Big YES for online Tackle Shop.

I someone can help me with other Tackle shops in Cape Town area with direction I would apreciate it.

Why not start small ... a site linked to sealine that just shows products and prices, make contact with "owner", get banking details and deposit.

Then stuff can be sent to us.

Just remember that shipping adds to the price, which could actually make it more expensive on alot of products.
