When using a double hook trace with the end hook tied do I need to tie the second hook on or can I leave it sliding ?

When sliding with a circle most guys only use one through the bottom jaw/eye socket. If you want to use 1 hooks. Put the circle through the bottom lip and a job hook through the back just below the dorsal fin.

Best to tie it on in my opinion. Both hooks solid.

the loose hook will slide all the way down to the bottom hook to penetrate the fish's mouth. So I would rather fish with 1 hook or 2 solid hooks before fishing with 1 loose hook

I normally snell both hooks(if circle hooks). I never fish a loose sliding hook.

But I have found a smaller circle on its own that is snelled and baited correctly is very effective and the use for 2 circles then is pointless... If I bait up a head section of bait I make a hole through the jaw(above and through both lips)and put a cable tie through it and I don't pull it too tight so the head can still swing on the cable tie. So I leave a loop... Second cable tie through the first one and around the bottom of the circle hook and that one I pull tight.

Has never failed me!!! Only if I target big rays I will use 2 circles on a whole occy bait.

I don't mind posting a picture but I haven't got one to hand.

If I slide this weekend I will take a pic and post it... Maybe I can draw it. This is as good as I can do for now but it is actually very simple... Pic will follow as soon as I can load it.

Pleasure!!! And no need to use a 22/0 circle!!! even a 10 - 13/0 is fine!

Search the forum. Henning Venter did a post on circle hooks. Think it was called "circle hooks work"... Very informative and great topic with very accurate info.
