Guess where I was yet again this weekend............

This time I took me wife and my youngest boetie for some sports on Roodkoppies.

We arrived and launched by 06h30 and it was very fresh on the water and to top it all there was a very cool strong breeze blowing which made our endevours to find feeding carp a bit of a mare but fortunately by 9 am the wind died down and I was deligated the task of how to show the others to catch carp on artlure.

With in a few minutes I managed to boat the only carp for the day but nothing to turn ones nose up at as it pulled the scale to a whopping 15lbs.

Then we worked our way towards a tree where i caught a barbel last weekend and Quintin (Hatchery king) caught a good sized carp.

As we got up to the tree I saw a good sized barbel lying in the shade and all I had in my hand was a carp dipping rod so I dipped and the barbel slammed to small loodkoppie and proceeded to go around the tree - (Excuse the pornographic photo but this photie caputes the moment of trying to clear the tree)

Anyways I gave the stick to my boet to land the fish and after a tussle with Hyacinth and vegetation the barbel came to the boat just a Squeak over 14lbs

Then we decided to move SPots and as we cruised into the shallows a bigger barbel came swimming my direction and again with dipping stick in hand I dipped and he gobbled - after a 20min fight he came to the boat and weighed in at 19lbs

Again we moved to a new area and here the water was gin clear and full of feeding fish both Carp and barbel. The fish were very spooky so I opted for my spinning kit loaded with 10lb line and a little carp loodkoppie so I could throw up in the shallows where we coould not get with the boat.

The first fish to come along looked like a small barbel but it was far from the boat -so I hoofed the small loodkoppie up in the shallows and swam it up to mr whiskers and he gobbled it - (ON DAD so to speak) he came cruising past the boat - not so little after all and boy did he take line.

10lb line the game was on he pulled me around for 45mins me putting as much pressure as I dared and my little quantum outfit was put through it's paces
