Found the FG a mission to tie when the wind is about. The Bob Sands is way easier to tie and I've yet to have it fail.

It's a F...... Good knot hence FG Knot. Also known as the GT knot

For anything up to 0.60mm leaders I tie off with a Bob Sands

For 0.80-1.6mm leaders I use the FG and tie it as per this demo

very similiar to the slim beauty?

I only use slim beauty knots for braid to mono....easy to tie......too! I must say it just does not give!

Werk baie goed. Neem tyd om te knoop. Verkieslik by die huis waar daar nie wind is nie. Gly lekker deur ogies van stok.

Since this thread I can also say that, 1 , I have learned that if you are using new mono, just give it  a very light sand on the area that is to be wrapped, it grips like no other! very, very good knot.

I have experimented with the slim beauty knot and have managed to tie a modified "slim beauty type knot" and is just as good.

If you tie the FG in windy conditions, use the technique where you wrap with the mono, rather than braid, wind will have no effect!

It really looks like something you have to have faith in, that it doesn't slip off.

So is this now the latest thing to tie your braid directly to your leader without doing the bimini-cats paw- wind on leader thing for ineds?
